asked questions

Are there aircraft restrictions for hangars?

Te Kowhai Aerodrome has been re-designed and future-proofed to allow for aircraft types up to the Code 1A+ category as the Airpark develops. In general this means aircraft types below 5,700kg and with a maximum wingspan of 14.99m with restrictions for aircraft up to 18m wingspan. The current runway is constructed of grass and is 983m long with an additional starter extension of 250m which may be integrated in the future.

Who owns the Aerodrome?

Ownership of the Aerodrome will be transferred to an incorporated society called Te Kowhai Airpark Owners Association. The members of the Owner’s Association will be the landowners within the Airpark.

What amenities are available within the Airpark?

At present we have: An Arrivals and Departure lounge, A flight training room, a large event hangar, Hangar B (our social hangar), toilet facilities, outdoor tables and chairs, and BP Fuel. These amenities will be developed further and owned by the Owner’s Association so they are available for use by Owners and the community.
